²⁷ He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him safe and sound.’

²⁸ “He was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and entreated him. ²⁹ But he answered his father, ‘Look! These many years have I served you. Nor have I ever transgressed your commands, yet never have you given me a goat, so that I might be merry with my friends.
